Sketches!

As a parent of sporty kids, I spend a lot of time at events waiting for my kids to compete. Often, I sketch. Here’s a couple from yesterday’s event.

Remixed and sold same day!

It’s very satisfying when you finally get around to improving something that’s bothered you for a while…AND somebody buys it that very same day. See this example.

Chuck Knoblock

Got a salvaged door knob. Hacksawed it apart and got the silver piece of this guy’s eye. Also incorporated a drawer pull and a grinding disc. The knob also contained several other good parts as well which will most likely pop up in future pieces.

Nautilus

Just an all-time weird sea creature and I’ve been wanting to do one for a while. I kept the form pretty realistic but leaned on blue and teal (my fav colors) for the coloration.

Pink Tiger Shark.

I probably use teal and blue more than any other color, but every once in a while I like to do a piece in hot pink, like this tiger shark.

New shape!

The concave shape on the body is new and different. I stumbled upon that by drawing a bunch of triangles. When I’m struggling creatively I go back to triangles and I always come up with something new.

New (old) one!

Sometimes I finish something and it’s just not quite right and I have to look at it for a few months before I figure out how to redo it. This was one of those pieces. Moved the eye up and redid the teeth and voila, now I like it!

4.0 GPA

The final in my mysterious GPA-engraved coasters series. Possibly the best of the bunch in my opinion.

A rare painting…on canvas

I don’t paint canvases very much but I had this very large canvas lying around and I didn’t want to move it to our new house. So I painted it and I like how it turned out. Kind of monochromatic.

Kerminardo!

Couldn’t decide if it reminds me of Kermit the frog or Leonardo from teenage mutant ninja turtles. So I split the difference.
